Uses: Revolution for Dogs should be applied to your dog’s skin on a monthly basis in order to prevent canine heartworm disease by killing heartworms (Dirofilaria immitis) in their immature stage. Revolution kills adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and prevents flea eggs from hatching for a period of 30 days (one month). Since Revolution is broad-spectrum, it is also effective in preventing and treating ear mites (Otodectes cynotis), American dog ticks, and sarcoptic mange.

Possible Side Effects: Side effects from Revolution are rare but always possible. In coordination, trembling, and drooling may occur. If Revolution is accidentally given orally (by mouth), drooling and vomiting can also occur. Temporary hair loss at the site of application is possible. If your dog displays any unusual symptoms after Revolution has been applied, call your veterinarian immediately.

Drug and Food Interactions: If your dog is already receiving an alternate heartworm medication, do not start Revolution unless your veterinarian instructs you to do so. If you are planning to switch to Revolution from another heartworm preventative, wait until the next dose of heartworm medication is due before initiating treatment. No significant drug or food interactions have been reported with Revolution but it is always important to tell your veterinarian about other medications, vitamins, supplements, and preventatives your pet is taking prior to starting this medication.
