How do I know if I need a prescription?
Many medications for infections, pain, heart disease, heartworm, urinary tract disease, veterinary diets, and more, do need a prescription. Simply look for the "Veterinarian Approval Required" designation on the Product Detail page, to determine if this product needs a prescription. All we need is your veterinarian's name and phone number and we'll get your pet's prescription for you. We'll collect all necessary information during checkout.

How do I order a VETERINARIAN DIET/FOOD for my pets?
There are two ways to find the veterinarian prescribed food or diet you're looking for:

Are your medications and veterinary diets the same as I would get at my veterinarian's office or the local pharmacy?
Yes! All medications we provide are U.S. FDA and EPA approved. You will receive the same brand name or generic brand as you would from your veterinarian or local pharmacy.

What about generic prescriptions? Can you fill them, too?
Yes! Many veterinary drugs are available in a generic form at a considerable savings to you! We can fill your order with a generic as long as your veterinarian indicates that generics are appropriate on your pet’s prescription.

How do I get a refill of my pet's prescription?
It's easy! Just click the "Quick Re-Order" button on the upper right corner of our pharmacy page. You will be directed to your order history page where you can simply click the product you want to reorder and drop it in your cart. As long as you have refills on the prescription, we will process your order within 1-3 business days.

Why don't I need a prescription for Frontline, Advantage or Capstar?
Many long-time dog and cat owners remember needing a prescription in the past for Frontline, Advantage, Program, and Capstar. These flea and tick treatments are considered extremely safe and effective, yet no longer need a prescription from your veterinarian.

Why do I need a prescription for heartworm medication?
If you pet already has heartworm, taking the medication could cause serious harm - even death. So, it is important that your vet test for heartworm before prescribing heartworm medication.

Does my dog need a heartworm test every year?
Heartworm testing is recommended every year if your pet does not take heartworm preventative year-round. If your pet is receiving heartworm preventative year-round, testing is recommended every other year. You should check with your veterinarian regarding the frequency of heartworm testing as he/she knows your pet and your pet's lifestyle best.

Does my dog need heartworm protection year-long?
Most veterinarians recommend year-round protection in warmer climates and if your dog spends time with small children. That way, you protect your pet and your family. Ask your vet to be sure.

My pet is supposed to have a prescription medication and/or a veterinary diet long term. Do I need a new prescription each time?
No. Your veterinarian can write your prescription "for life" and we will keep it in our files. This will allow for unlimited refills unless we are notified that the status has changed by your veterinarian.

What is your return policy?
We work very hard and try everything we can to make sure you are 100% satisfied with your shopping experience at NationalPetPharmacy.com. We can accept returns on most items within 30 days from the date of purchase.
Please note that due to federal regulations, we cannot accept returns on prescription medication.
To make a return, take the following steps:
1. Call us toll free at1-800-865-1077, Monday-Friday 8:00am-10:00pm, Saturday-Sunday 9:00am-5:30pm ET.
2. Request to return a product and we will give you an RMA Number
3. Write the RMA Number clearly on the OUTSIDE of the return box
4. Place the PACKING SLIP inside the box
5. Ship the box to us
This will help assure the speedy processing of your return.
Please note that when returning an order for a refund, you will be responsible for the return postage unless an error occurred on our part. Once we have received the shipment, we will issue a refund to your method of payment.

How long does it take for me to get my order?
Typically, your order will take between 1-3 business days to be processed and carefully packaged in our warehouse before it is handed to our shipping partners (UPS or USPS). Once that happens it typically takes 1-3 days in transit from our Harleysville, PA or Sparks, NV warehouse locations. If you want it quicker we offer both overnight and 2nd day shipping.
Overnight/2nd-Day Shipping Policy
• Your non-prescription orders will be shipped the same day when you order by 2pm, Eastern Time. When you order after noon, your order will be shipped the next business day.
• Prescription orders require your vet’s approval before shipment, and will ship within 1 business day after we receive approval.(If your veterinarian is not available or we have difficulty reaching him/her, your shipment may be delayed until we receive approval.)
NOTE: UPS does not ship on Saturday or Sunday, so the “next business day” after Friday is Monday.
