Vetoryl Capsules (Trilostane)

Vetoryl (Trilostane) is used to treat both pituitary- dependent hyperadrenocorticism (PDH) and adrenal-dependent hyperadrenocortism (ADH) Cushing's disease.
PDH: This is the most common form of the disease (80% to 50% of spontaneous cases), and it often occurs as a result of a benign tumor of the pituitary gland. This tumor causes the pituitary gland to produce large amounts of ACTH, which stimulates the adrenal glands to produce excessive amounts of cortisol.
ADH:This form of the disease is less common (15% to 20% of spontaneous cases), occurs when a tumor develops in one , or sometime both, adrenal glands. This tumor produces excessive levels of cortisol.
